§ 110-29. Speed limit in school zones.

  • (a)

    On school days, no person shall drive a motor vehicle in excess of 20 miles per hour while passing through a school zone or while traveling upon any public thoroughfare where children go to and from school.

    (b)

    Appropriate signs must be posted upon the city maintained streets where a school zone is located, giving due warning that a school zone is being approached, indicating the zone and providing the maximum speed limit in effect during school days.

    (c)

    Nothing shall prohibit the use of electronic speed detection devices within 500 feet of signs within a school zone.
